Why “data hygiene” matters more than it sounds
An analysis is only ever as good as the data beneath it. Even a handful of duplicate rows can noticeably skew a total or an average. The tricky part: such errors are barely visible, yet they feed straight into every chart and every metric.
That is why a short cleaning step before any analysis pays off – it costs a few minutes and prevents decisions based on wrong numbers.
Find and remove duplicates reliably

It is important to distinguish real duplicates (fully identical rows) from apparent ones that differ in just one column – e.g. “Ltd” vs. “Ltd.”. You unify the latter with find & replace.
Empty rows, empty columns and whitespace
Empty rows in the middle of a dataset are a classic: many analyses and filters stop at the first blank row. Invisible spaces at the start or end of a cell also cause trouble, because “Berlin” and “Berlin ” count as two different values.

The number-format problem
